Homeowner Jaya worked with Covington's Nursery Designer Steve Malone to achieve a little slice of heaven right in her own backyard.

And I sure hope Jaya is ready for every friend and family member she’s ever known to ask if they can hold their receptions and milestone parties in her backyard, because— sorry, Jaya— that’s what’s about to happen!! 😜😝

Even while filming this landscape, I half expected a waiter in a tuxedo to walk up and offer me a tray of hors d'oeuvres; it’s just that kind of yard. It makes you want to throw a fancy party!

This modern yet charming backyard transports you to a world of European luxury and sophistication… a world of cocktail parties and elegant mixers... but there is also something artsy and edgy about the space. It is remarkable that an outdoor living space on the ground floor of a home in Allen, Texas somehow reminded me of rooftop parties and art gallery receptions in Lower Manhattan!

There is so much stylish elegance packed into such a small space… and yet it’s the intimacy of the backyard that eventually made me remember— on a much less grandiose scale— that this is also just where Jaya and her husband probably come to enjoy a cozy glass of wine in the evening or a simple cup of coffee each morning.

(But I’m assuming a waiter in a tuxedo brings you that cup of coffee, right Jaya?)
